Investigation on Horizontal and Vertical Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances Propagation in Global‐Scale Using GNSS and Multi‐LEO Satellites

چکیده
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations from worldwide ground-based stations have been extensively used in traveling ionospheric disturbance (TID) detections. However, these primarily cover land area, thus causing a challenging problem of interpreting the global propagating characteristics large-scale TIDs (LSTIDs), especially over ocean area. Meanwhile, Total Electron Content (TEC) values derived GNSS signals through whole ionosphere an integral character, and we were unable to obtain propagation dissipation vertical direction using solely TEC data. In this study, apart observations, situ data precise orbit determination receivers on board Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellites integrated for first time TID investigation during St. Patrick's Day geomagnetic storm. Through experiments, found that LEO satellite effectively compensate areas where cannot be detected by sparse data, particularly polar areas. The space-borne provided new observational evidences LSTIDs up topside 17 March 2015 storm, serving as great supplements Combining with at various altitudes offers opportunities theoretical studies propagations different heights better understanding complex coupled processes geospace environment.

Investigation of the effects of geomagnetic storms on ionospheric irregularities using the combination of ground-based GNSS and SWARM satellites
Geomagnetic storms are one of the main causes of ionospheric perturbations in different sizes, depending on their intensity, which could disturb radio signals passing through this medium. On September 6-12, 2017, the sudden storm commencement (SSC) was the most massive geomagnetic storm of the year due to the X9 solar flare caused by a coronal mass ejection (CME). IMF-Bz and Dst values increase...
متن کاملA study of Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances and Atmospheric Gravity Waves using EISCAT Svalbard Radar IPY-data
We present a statistical study of Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances (TIDs) as observed by the EISCAT Svalbard Radar (ESR) during the continuous IPY-run (March 2007–February 2008) with field-aligned measurements. We have developed a semi-automatic routine for searching and extracting Atmospheric Gravity Wave (AGW) activity. The collected data shows that AGW-TID signatures are common in the high...
متن کاملionospheric absorption of hf radio wave in vertical propagation
in this study, absorption of high frequency radio waves in the ionospheric plasma have beeninvestigated. the wave equation was obtained in terms of ionospheric parameters. the numerical values ofthe absorption have been calculated for 4 mhz, 4.5 mhz and 5 mhz waves. the necessary parameters forcalculation have been obtained using an international reference ionosphere (iri) model. the altitudina...
